Due to inherent inaccuracies and competing myths pertaining to the life and times of Martin McGinn, we
present to you, the general (and not-so-general) public, with this timeline of events that are widely agreed upon
by eminent scholars in the area of McGinnology to have taken place in Mr. McGinn's life. We hope that this
information serves its purpose in shining the much needed light in the areas of darkness which, for too long,
have been left untouched.
MARTIN McGINN – composer, pianist, all-around good guy
1981 – Creation. Location widely accepted as Jefferson, Iowa, a small town on the Great Plains surrounded by corn fields.
1986 – Experiments in sound on his grandmother’s “Thomas Californian” organ.
1997 – Introduced to Penderecki’s “Threnody”. Quickly rejects dreams of becoming first human to visit Galaxy NGC 4261 and focuses on the study, creation and organization of sound.
1998 – First conscious experiments in sound.
1998a – First unconscious experiments in sound.
1999 – Attends the University of Iowa to "become" a “composer”.
2003 – "Becomes" a “composer”. Quickly realizes he can’t make a living and goes westward to Mills College. Studies more.
2005 – Becomes a “serious” “composer” of “new music”. Rejects all things commercial.
2006 – Relative obscurity and rejection of all things academia. Embraces commerciality.
2007 – Rejects all things commercial and begins work on more serious compositions.
Future –Takes a cue from Harry Partch and becomes a hobo.
